The best never to win the title vs the worst ever to win the title.

    The idea of this thread is that we match the best fighter never to win the world title in a given weight class against the worst who did succeded in winning it.

    Give me a few examples

    Is it a mismatch or is it competitive?

    What are the interesting hypothetical matches that come out of this?

    I am personaly thinking of lineal titles but I will give you some discretion in whether you consider alphabet titles.

    I will also alow you to choose the weight classes that interest you the most.

    For example I would regard Sam Langford as the best heavyweight never to win the lineal title and Leon Spinks as the worst who did win it. It is an intersting cross era match in many ways, but I would expect a brutal destruction of Neon Leon.

    the worst to win a title has to be...I mean HAS TO BE..none other than Luis Santana..gets his ass handed to him and wins on a DQ...and not only that, "defends" successfully against the same Terry Norris by another DQ. One of the best to never win a title, and actually get screwed out of winning royally, was Tyrone Everett, who "lost" to a guy I was actually a fan of back then ..Alfredo Escalera, the Snake Man himself.
