    Round 7

Uchiyama is digging the right hand to the body after crouching on the front foot. Right hand to the face by Uchiyama, as Vasquez flurries at him. Light jabs by Vasquez circling to his left. Chopping right behind the jabs as Vasquez stands his ground a moment. Wild slices by Vasquez, clipping Uchiyama atop the head. Uchiyama steps back out of the way, then moves in with a stiff double jab to the chin. Vasquez lays on Uchiyama and pushes his arms down. Lots of rolling and slipping on the inside by Vasquez with his arms crossed against his chest, pushing off Uchiyama and flurrying into his chest. Jabs from outside by Vasquez. He falls in with a looping right to hold briefly. Flush right hand by Uchiyama. 1-1-2 by Vasquez running in, misses as Uchiyama turns away. Uchiyama jabs Vasquez into the ropes.

    10-9 Vasquez

    67-66 Uchiyama

Uchiyama is quicker and he is catching Vasquez cleanly. Vasquez good in spots, showing good heart, but a little out classed here. Big shots and its over!!!

    Round 8

Uchiyama is doubling the hook to the body, throwing it as a hybrid uppercut after stepping all the way inside and bringing it up into Vasquez's ribs. Vasquez is defending very well against Uchiyama's head shots, catching punches on his forearms and slipping with head movement. Counter jabs and slap-over rights by Vasquez. OH! Uchiyama times him with a left hook, right hand and hurts him. Vasquez is trapped on the ropes and Uchiyama unloads, straight piston combos!! Big shots by Uchiyama!! VASQUEZ TAKES IT ALL, trying to protect himself and move to safety!

    WAVED OFF AT THE BELL!!

    TKO8!!

That was quite the finish by Uchi to overwhelm a dead game opponent.

Especially where he'd made it until the bell. That's probably the best argument in protest of the stoppage.

He took a serious licking, though. Any time before the bell to signal the end of the eighth would have been appropriate to stop it, once Uchiyama had Vasquez hurt.

He'd earned the chance to go sit on his stool and perhaps clear the cobwebs by withstanding it for that entire minute...but there also wasn't much protest.

A strong showing by Vasquez. Having bet on Uchiyama, I was nervous till the fight was waived off, fearing Uchiyama might be gassed with four to go. No doubt Vasquez belongs on this level, but at the same time, he fought his best fight and Uchiyama was still too much. Very good fight.
