How would Joe have faired if his opposition had included some of the MW greats.

Pitting his style against ATG MW's such as Hagler and Hearns.

Benn said Joe would pretty much still be doing his thing if he had been fighting with them a few years before he is that good.

    So namely these 6.......

The Best of Calzaghe Vs The Best of

    Halger, Hearns, Leonard.
Benn, Collins, Eubank (prime for prime).

He'd beat Collins and possibly Benn. Hagler would beat him. Not sure about Hearns or Leonard. What you have to consider is that they were initially welterweights so I'd lean towards Calzaghe. Prime Eubank would probably beat him in my opinion.

He would definitely beat Collins and quite easily IMO by wide UD.
He would stop Benn late on after surviving the initial onslaught.
I believe he would UD Eubank in a very hard fought fight probably around 115-13.

Leonard was really a welter weight so I find it hard to believe he could beat Calzaghe at 168 as good as he was.

I wouldn't like to predict Hagler or Hearns they were before my time and haven't seen enough full fights to give an opinion.

Hearn's was chinny and would rely on his height and power but Joe would too fast for him.

Joe could just box rings around Hagler not slugging It out with him too much.

I don't pick any to beat him

Green Calzaghe beat an old Eubank comfortably, it isn't difficult to imagine prime vs. prime Calzaghe coming out on top

Benn likely gets outboxed, as he can be, but he always has the punchers chance. A Calzaghe points win is more probable

Hearns and Leonard had their primes at welterweight, its a massive ask for them to beat Calzaghe at 168

Again, Calzaghe is bigger than Hagler, and its also a good style match for Calzaghe. He looks good against fighters that will come at him, as Hagler would.

Benn would have mangled him. Benn would be a p4p top 1-2 in the current climate.

Leonard would be a problem. Hagler would be tough.

I think Joe has it to beat them all. A lot of them at their best were smaller than Joe anyway.

Benn-prime Calzaghe would have been ****ing awesome given Calzaghe's propensity to mix it if he got gobbed.

It probably would have ruined the pair of them whoever came out on top.

Benn was a supreme counter puncher and would have put JC in a world of hurt.

Hagler would knockout Calzaghe as would Hearns and Leonard.

He and Benn is a 50/50 fight as they would have got into a tear up.

Eubank at his peak would like have done him based on their fight when Eubank was past his best.

Collins he might beat on points most likely.

Joe would have a chance against any of them. I thin he has a chance against Hagler. Hearns is wrong for him (more accurate) and I have a feeling that Eubank might be able to punch him back, though it depends on the judges scoring style - Monzon would beat him.

:good yeh great fight, war springs to mind, like Jeff said the counter punching would be something to behold cause Joe can very much hold his own in the counter department too....

Hagler the best fight for me, styles make fights and all that.

Nigel Benn would drag him into one hell of a war, I am not sure what the outcome would be, other than a brutal KO for someone.

Prime Eubank is an interesting one, Chris had it in him to confuse pretty much anyone.....

Collins wouldn't have a chance, his signature wins are against Benn, who was past it big time, and Eubank who had lost his motivation for the game.

As for the American brood, SRL wouldn't be big enough for me, Hearns would be KO'd whilst in front on the cards, whilst Hagler would probably prevail.

Not sure about RJJ though, probably ditto Hagler.
