More often then not I find myself criticizing Ali; With peoples delusional opinions that he could NEVER be beaten (when he was) or never be dropped.. that he beats everyone in any H2H match up... This though made me smile and remember that I actually do like Ali for what he was and who he was... beautiful to watch.
I don't think anyone should be favoured to beat Ali at his peak best. He has a unique combination of hand and footspeed, chin, ring generalship and grit. That doesn't mean that if he ran the gauntlet of ATG heavyweights that he would remain undefeated. I just can't see myself giving anyone better than even money against him.
Damn straight..Say what you want about the man..at his best he was very close to unbeatable..that combination of handspeed..footspeed..angles..and sheer ballzyness was a lot to deal with for any HW..past or present. My lingering image of Ali is his title winning fight against Liston..controversy or not..that Ali had everything a fighter needs to have..except maybe one-punck-ko power..But his combination punching..the speed more than made up for it. Truly The Greatest HW that ever lived.
And there would always be Norton, neutralizing what Ali does best., and with a legit claim that he won all 3 fights.
Apparently Joe Fraizer. See.. this is what I'm talking about.. I was going to mention that; but people could always say.. Oh he was older and not in his PRIME; although it was just 31 years old then; and against Frazier he was still well within his 20's
