Yup. Got the discs done, just gotta buy some Stamps. I think they'll go out sometime this week mate. There's 4 there.
Thanks for the video! I've noticed he's good at slipping punches and making people pay. The part starting at 2:52 was a thing of beauty.
Nice to see Yuh finally getting some recognition round here, a long time ago I used to mention his name a lot when talking about Asian or lower weight division fighters but never really got to talking about him much with anyone besides Mante as no one else knew fook all about him really. Now it seems that that page has finally turned for good and he is starting to get some attention and praise from the masses here at esb classic, and its about damn time if I may say so, but better late than never as the ol` saying goes. Now if I can only find the time to join in on the fun and talk about him and some other fighters a bit more in-depth....
Well, Alacran Torres from McGrains thread was a damn good fighter in his day, very well schooled and skilled technical boxer he was. Rodolfo Martinez was another guy who is only really remembered for his loss to Zarate, shame really as he was a clever and cagey fighter, not the most flashy but like Yuh he was pretty good at everything without being outstanding in any one area. Then there are other guys from other weight divisions that never get any ink round here such as Federico Thompson, Gaspar Ortega, Isaac Logart, Joey Giambra, Yama Bahama, etc... These guys weren`t great but they fall into the category of fighters who could and likely would have fared better in less talent stacked eras. But even as it stands they were solid contenders who provided some great fights to us fans, and they ought to be remembered and talked about more often imo.
I try and find the time to post, I really do, but most of the time I am just too damn tired to do so. Hell, I`m half asleep while I am typing this, lol.
His accuracy, counter punching and combinations were all excellent. Love his left hook as well, are any of his fights on youtube?
I've uploaded two, and there's two others on there. That's four. I'm going to upload what I think is his most complete performance. :good
I have to admit I've never seen any of his fights, but I'm impressed from that video. Definitely going to give them a watch.
thanks RB You mention Gasper Ortega i have some fights on him to me he was just a decent contender in a great era but he was very exciting his fight with Basilio is non-stop punching and the first fight with Griffith catches some fire in the later rounds
