The Best of the Rest: 160lbs Tier II Tournie - Last 16 Fight 6: Rodrigo Valdez TKO10 Billy Papke

Billy Papke was stopped in the tenth round with a huge cut above his right eyebrow in a fight which Rodrigo Valdez dominated from the third. Papke started brightly, swarming Valdez out of position and rifling punches into his body. Valdez rallied at the very end of the second with untidy, cuffing combos to the head but was much sharper in the third round, troubling Papke and forcing a stop-start approach upon him. In the sixth, Papke emerged from one of his pressure swarms bleeding profusely form a deep cut over his right eye. Valdez paid it no special mind but Papke's still and Valdez's accurcy saw it worsen by round; the referee finished the ninth drenched in Papke's blood and to Papke's absolute fury stopped what had been a chaotic and entertaining fight in the middle of the tenth.
