What i've done is i've lifted top tiers out of my top fifty at the poundage, fiddled it a little bit to minimise guys with no footage and used the remaining 32 names plus some subs to develop a seeded tournament to uncover "the best of the rest" at the poundage, with you, the denizens of the world's greatest boxing history forum, casting the deciding vote.

Pick your man! Write however many details you like or don't in a post below. But maybe try to post, to keep things moving a little bit. You have three days.

And let's be nice. No reason for disagreeing over total fantasies after all!

15 rounds, 1950s rules and ref. Ten points must. Weigh in is 18 hours before the fight.

I'll only vote if it's tied, then I'll decide the result.

Round of Thirty-Two Fight 5: Dick "The Tiger" Tiger vs Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev

    Dick Tiger (60-19-3)

The mighty Dick Tiger is the holder of a patchy career at LHW and although undoubtedly a geat fighter, is he great enough to make meatballs for a large modern LHW? How do we define him at 175lbs anyway? Have at it Classic.

    Sergey Kovalev (34-4-1)
Kovalev the beast or the overrated? How good was Kovelave in his prime? And how will this test progress for him?

Tiger's got the compact arms, hard bodywork and granite chin to walk Kovalev down and break him down, but I think he'd be a little out-monstered - to coin one of your favourite phrases there, Matt. Kovalev might have been a little too big and explosive for Tiger. I'm absolutely certain Kovalev would've stopped Torres, and while I think Torres' technical skills are underrated (better than Kovalev's IMO), I don't think he lasts five rounds with Kovalev at his peak. Tiger was more hittable at the 175 than he was at 160, and he was never that hard to find. As a much smaller guy (he was like, a SMW, compared to Kovalev was like 190 on the night) you didn't really want to overrely on your chin vs someone like Kovalev the Wet Noodle. I think Kovalev would force a TKO after a few fun rounds early, and then a few rounds which are decreasingly competitive as they progress.

    Kovalev TKO7, IMO.

A bold, bold prediction from young George, and at the expense of a one-time forum favourite!

    Anyone else for Kovalev?

I think Tigers durability and mental strength caused Kovalev to start falling apart around the 7th. I like Tiger by UD or TKO

Tiger off to an early lead, presumably for reasons laid out by Robert...plenty of time for Krusher to make the comeback though.

I love Tiger but I can't argue with this analysis. Tiger was at his best 15 pounds south of 175.

 Sal launches a prediction very much in his own idiom.

He's in the door though. Everyone who tries to make a pick in a later round who doesn't contribute in round one will be roundly mocked.

    Kovalev...inside the distance.

He was too big for Tiger.

Weigh in around 3:00 am ?
Even with the middle-of-the-night scales, Kovalev will come in with a significant practical weight advantage.

Kov went undefeated till he was 35...except for his bouts with Ward. One of those he clearly won, and the other at least deserves an asterisk.

Could Tiger have beaten Ward ?

Tiger didn't deal well with the power of real LHWs.
Kov was not Foster, but he had enough power to dissuade and stop the smaller man.
