What i've done is i've lifted top tiers out of my top fifty at the poundage, fiddled it a little bit to minimise guys with no footage and used the remaining 32 names plus some subs to develop a seeded tournament to uncover "the best of the rest" at the poundage, with you, the denizens of the world's greatest boxing history forum, casting the deciding vote. Pick your man! Write however many details you like or don't in a post below. But maybe try to post, to keep things moving a little bit. You have three days. And let's be nice. No reason for disagreeing over total fantasies after all! 15 rounds, 1950s rules and ref. Ten points must. Weigh in is 18 hours before the fight. I'll only vote if it's tied, then I'll decide the result. Round of Thirty-Two Fight 9: Battling "The Singular Senegalese" Siki vs Leo "Aberdeen Assassin" Lomski Leo Lomski (103-27-16) The perenially underrated Lomski defeated Max Rosenbloom, Jim Braddock, Pete Latzo, Mike McTigue, Tiger Flowers and came within a second of taking the title from Tommy Loughran in a prime marred a bit by by the numbers in his late career. Light on his feet and quick-handed, he was no puncher but nevertheless packed a surprising pop in his right that sometimes caught opponents off guard. Battling Siki (60-24-4) Siki was a free-swinging, crude fighter with excellent power but poor defensive skills; He loved to fight and have fun but possessed an uncontrollable temper; He was known to lead lions around the streets of Paris and fire pistols into the air on occasion; He was awarded a Medal of Honor for bravery in World War I; Siki won the Light Heavyweight Championship of the World during his career. He defeated such men as Georges Carpentier, Rienus "Rene" DeVos, Willem Westbroek, Hans Breitenstraeter, Giuseppe Spalla, Harry Reeve and Ercole de Balzac.
I'll go with Siki. I like Leo, he's right up my street as a sort of 'hipster's choice', and he's a very underrated fighter. However, Siki's style seems quite bad for him, in a Kid Williams/Sung-Kil Moon kind of way. At first I thought Leo may have had enough pop to work Siki over, get his respect and carry things out; but I was disillusioned of that notion. Siki's chin was granite, and Leo wasn't much of a puncher or a finisher. No, I think Siki pounds out a messy win in a good fight. It'd go the distance, though. Lomski had a good chin of his own.
Battling Siki out-hustles and takes a narrow decision with an aggressive, punching strategy which saw him edge ahead in the final third of an entertaining fight.
