The fight started as it usually did, complete swing round in round 1, round 2 was pretty much the same, though Pacquiao did take it, but again, not too different from the other 3 fights in the pacing and almost timing of which each punch landed Then came the next round and Marquez knocked Pacquiao down. I don't really remember being that surprised while watching a fight since Mormeck failed to beat Wladimir Klitschko. Honestly when it happened I just though...wut? But then, Marquez has rocked Pacquiao plenty of times, and he's certainly looked to have a good deal more power and been sitting down on his punches lately, so it wasn't alltogether a massive shock Then another round came, Juan got a little careless and got himself dropped, I was concerned he'd get overexcited and start get himself into trouble - there was a point, at the end of I think round 4? when he looked pretty badly hurt, his legs seemed to be real unsteady and he almost looked as if he was limping, but he fought his way out of it and saw the end of the round Now for the small minority of people on here who haven't added me to their ignore list....you will know I have been pretty vocal about what I feel happened over the course of the 3 fights (and what I thought would happen in this fight - Marquez victory) But seeing Pac go down in the manner he did, it being clear after a second or so that he would not get up, was just downright surreal, I was in total shock, I think I was even too surprised to be happy about it, he wouldn't have made the 2 minute count if there was one. I actually couldn't believe it, I was watching it with my girl, giving her a breif history of the two, saying that Pac has a good chin, and Marquez will never get the decision without a KO, which is unlikely to happen 10 minutes later, I was concerned if Pac would actually get up Credit to the guy though he was as positive as always, after he was woken up he was smiling, came for his interview was in no way disparaging, his attitude in the ring has always been nothing short of magnificent It then left a sour taste in my mouth when Bob Arum came and stood next to him for the interview, leering and standing over Manny - you could also see the change in Pacquiaos demeanor when Arum entered, and its hard to look more uncomfortable than you already did after you were just badly knocked out, but Emmanuel managed it, my girl even said to me after Pac was asked who he would fight (and replied as he usually does) 'Obviously he will say that his promoter is standing right there, why is he bullying him!' Obviosly now she is a woman, and overdramatised the situation, but man, if she could see that ****, I'm not sure how anybody else still defends that old lech :-( Anyway well done to Juan, glad he finally got his win, and a decisive one at that, and credit to Pac for taking his defeat like a man
I'm glad to see Pac lose obviously, but the thing I do feel bad about him is his relationship with Arum. I hate to see him get taken advantage of by the SOB
Don't get me wrong I loved seeing it, I was just ****ing shocked that it actually happened. Arum is scum man, the physical change in Pac once he walked over was bizarre
Pacquiao, at the end of the day is a pretty cool individual and he's a great fighter. I was glad for Marquez to take what was his. But I certainly don't like the future prospects for Pacquiao, as a result of the manner in which he lost this match.
Watched it this morning on sosoboxing without knowing the result. Could tell by the length of the video that there would be a ko, but had no idea what would be coming. Was shocked by the first knockdown, but then pac recovered. In the 6th I could see the video was not going much longer but my thought was that maybe Marquez's corner might stop it between rounds because of his nose. When the knockout came I just jumped out of my seat with my jaw hitting the floor. Unbelievable seeing Manny flattened like that. Didn't really care who won, just wanted to see a good fight and boy, they delivered. But I have to say, seeing Manny ko'd like that is one of the most shocking results in recent boxing history and maybe all boxing history. A historic punch and ending. Wow!
