I will tune in on nine tv's simultaneously to help bolster ratings.

Okay... Ward vs Smith is actually a decent fight.

I bet you love all of GGG's fights, where he's most certainly a 15/20-1 favourite against almost all of them, right?

I'm a big Ward fan, but this. ^^^ Can't wait for him to get his lil' pinky toe wet @170+ and go on the rampage of which I'm fairly certain he is capable.

    War SOG!! :bbb

You don't have to pay any extra money to watch this fight. If you have the channel then it costs you zero dollars. It's smart to take a tuneup after a long layoff. Every fighter I can think of in my lifetime has taken tuneups after either a layoff or setback/loss. What if Ward looks terrible in the Smith fight, gets brutally KO'd and then retires? Would it have been smart for him to take his first fight in 18 months and 2nd fight in 3 years against an even better opponent who could have potentially done permanent damage?

The difference is the activity. Guys like Wilder, GGG, Brook who fight 4 times a year can have a few easy fights. But Ward is 100% entitled to this fight after a long layoff. If he's fighting 1 or 2 times a year against the Paul Smith's of the world in the future then we can complain.

I'm sure he'll fight some top 5-top 10 guys at 68 real soon.

Like you said, he's off a year and a half layoff. Smiths actually pretty decent.

Not sure why no one is giving him any props.

Ok, first of all going to the fight live is not free...it costs money. Secondly...so you think it is better for Andre to potentially lose to a nobody, than to lose to someone good? That literally makes no sense man.Why the catchweight as well??? If it really was a tune up, then why also try out a new weight? Makes no sense. Catchweights are for 2 great fighters meeting halfway...not for a damn scrub that no one has ever heard of (and also fights at 168 ) It's beyond stupid.

As I pointed out before Andre himself said that the real reason he was out (and Virgil reiterated it) was that "no one wanted to fight him" He said it wasn't the legal issues.

I don't think it deserves any special praise. It just doesn't deserve any special criticism. I'm sure Ward will be fightin the best SMWs who are willing to fight him too. I'm guessing the Groves/Jack winner steps up first after taking one easy defense.

How does it cost extra money? If you have BET it is free.

Fighting a lesser opponent after a layoff makes sense because boxing is dangerous and you have to figure out if you still have it before stepping in with someone who might do permanent damage to a lesser version of yourself. It makes perfect sense that a lesser fighter is not as likely to brutalize you than a better fighter if you're not the fighter you once were.

I'm sure as hell watching. I like watching fighters who I rate very highly. I shelled out to go see GGG/Monroe live. No doubt I'll tune in for free to watch an elite operator like Ward fight a similar level guy like Smith. At least Paul has faced world class opposition before.

The parade tomorrow in Oakland won't be for the Warriors, it will be for Ward. :nod
