The soft matches of Deines and Browne plus inactivity are not positives for Beterbiev when facing a hungry Joe Smith this Saturday.
Coupled with the fact that most people are insulting Smith by not giving him a chance in hell, Smith will be highly motivated to put his critics to rest once and for all.
I see Smith starting hard and fast catching & hurting an incoming Beterbiev early and not letting up unlike the overrated euro crusher Callum Johnson.

 

Beterbiev will fight more cautious here. Knowing the danger. Gotta give it to the man with more tools Beterbiev.

 

I put a 10 bonus bet I got on Smith to win at 6.5 to 1 odds for a giggle.

 

You can be motivated like hell but if you lack the skillset you cannot overcome much.

 

If you compare Smith's opponents during the same period, we have Vlasov and Geffrard. Now Vlasov is quite good of course, better as Smith himself actually, proven by the issue that he lost that fight according to the vast majority of people watching and receiving a hometown majority decision. Then we have Geffrard... not much to say really...

It isn't that most people write Smith off because they think he's rubbish. He's always dangerous with that huge punch, and his heart. The issue is that he's technically not that sound and has been cleanly outboxed (even recently) by lesser boxers as Beterbiev.

Also, his style is playing into Beterbiev's hands, as the only way to go long seems to be fighting defensively. He might have a good chin, but knowing Beterbiev's insane punching power and was to deliver it, I don't think he will last past the half point.

 

I've put a bit of money on Smith winning this, really hope he pulls it off.

 

Browne was better than Smith. Smith is going to get crushed, he’s against something he’s never felt before. Smith isn’t that devastating a puncher.

Smith does not punch like that. His punches are way more straight and he needs more space.

 

Smith and Callum Johnson are pretty smiliar in terms of punching style and technique. Johnson was the guy who nearly knocked him out.

 

Beterbiev is better, I mean this is clear. He's a better puncher, he's a better boxer, stalker, inside boxer, and his chin (despite what people try to claim) has not failed him to date. He's worn down elite boxers and has played the shoot out game with big punchers and won.

What does Smith have to actually beat Beterbiev? Not trouble him, all fighters can be troubled, but actually "beat him".

 

Things is,some boxer trouble and go to a decision with Smith but not Beterbiev...will Smith be the first...i don't think so.
