But at the same time, those fights could have gone either way. It's not as if they were clear to Pacquiao the way Mosley 1, B-Hop, or PBF were to Oscar. And there are instances where we, as fans, SHOULDN'T go by the record book. Whitaker-Chavez, Whitaker-Ramirez, Lewis-Holt 1, etc... That said, Mayweather's resume is CLEARLY better than Marquez's.
its not about who you fought, its what have you done for me lately. Marquez obviously started his career slowly. he's the most ducked person for obvious reasons. Floyd went on cruise control since he moved to bigger weight division. I can't blame him though its the logical thing when you make it big time.
Looking at names alone, Marquez. Looking at victories/losses, Floyd. Looking at the fights themselves, Floyd got a lucky escape against the prime Castillo and didn't look all that convincing against Judah and DLH, and JMM also had close shaves against Barrera, Diaz and Casamayor. About even there. PBF's only victory against a good, prime opponent was probably Hatton and perhaps Castillo II. JMM's is probably Diaz, and the Pacquiao fights if you think he deserved them. It's a close one.
Question! Who would you say have the better resume of these two imaginary boxers?: NUMBER 1 Norwood Peden Medina Gainer Pac Polo John Barrera Juarez Casamayor Diaz NUMBER 2 Torres J. Witter Tszyu Corley Clottey Cotto PBF Baldomir Green M. Ward C. Spinks Vasquez Who has the better resume? Vote now!
Nearly chopped Cotto in half??? Hold on , hold on for a sec there, are we talking about the same guy Cotto KO'd in the 5th rd.?
The point is... If you just go by who they MET and not by who they BEAT... then comparing resumes makes absolutely NO sense. And yes, based purely on opponents, Zab has the BETTER RESUME. Does he really have the best resume if comparing who they BEAT? No of course not.
