Guys, no hate for Wilder, he is a champ, he is a good fighter with enormous power and pace, furthermore he is an absolute athlete with a strong physique. But NEVER EVER he is a 1.3 | -297 | 20/59 shot vs Ortiz. I can not understand those odds at all and i have to go with a big stake on Ortiz here no matter if he's gonna lose this. If we take a neutral and objective look at this fight this is prob something from 55/45 (Wilder) to 50/50, matters how you rate some things. But i do not think Ortiz has only 25% chance of winning this. Personally i see this as a 50/50 coin toss matchup where everything can happen from an early KO on both sides till an UD/SD/MD with some heavy shots landed for both. This looks like the most exciting fight in HWD for a long time. I mean Joshua vs Parker is not even close to this i think (not in terms of quality!).
I do not think so because odds are relatively stable but insane prize. I can not remember seeing such a crazy prize in such a well known bout.
Those odds have had a CEJ effect. The Groves fight also started at 50/50 odds but then the casuals started to pour their money on Eubanks so he became the favorite.
The bookies just reflect the bets coming in from bettors. The odds just reflect the amount of money put on each side. The bookies don't "know" anything they simply balance the bets through the odds.
Wilder has the notoriety and the pimpin' angle covered. Ortiz has the old angle and the heart pills angle covered. Id there any wonder why the noobs are pouring their cash onto Wilder? Odds are probably in reality 60-40 to Wilder if he has a proper plan and proper camp. If Wilder just comes in and starts swinging, then I'd say it's 60-40 to Ortiz. It's Wilder's fight to lose, really.
Ortiz is too old, the betting odds take into account how he looks in sparring and everything else. Ortiz should have fought him 3 years ago, I don't think the fight will be close. Put your money on deontay
When you have a Haymon fight anything is possible. Don't be shocked if Ortiz throws the fight or takes a dive.
There is no big money coming in on either Ortiz or Wilder because odds are relatively stable since they were published. No big movement at all.
These odds make perfect sense when you know what the oddsmakers, and apparently I alone on this forum, know: Ortiz is a bum.
