Interesting. Now Golden Boy has another piece of the boxing landscape, and is turning into a promotional giant equivalent to Arum or King. May end up being a good thing for boxing, since market competitiveness could force more big fights to be made.

On the other hand, The Ring is now competely shot as an objective source.

Shame, Ring magazine has been one of the finest parts of boxing over the last 85 years, they have always had the finest champions (much more so than any ABC organization). Some how I think that will change now. One fight at 154 against a top 10 and don't be suprised if Oscar is the "ring" champion. No promoter should have anything to do with the Ring. Horrible day for boxing.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable to me. Like, off the top of my head I could say that a mogul like, Rupert Murdoch, has never done anything to influence what's printed or reported in any of the legitimate media outlets that he owns. That's why no one gave a **** when he stated his intentions to aquire the Wall Street Journal. Are you honestly naive or just ****ing stupid? I'm having a hard time making a decision.

And to the notion that anyone who has posted a negative opinion of this development is "only pissed because it's Oscar," I say give me a ****ing break. Would you be happy if DKP or Top Rank bought The Ring? Chirst, if King were involved, this thread would already be 20 pages long.

I always thought that the invective hurled at the DLH fans was out of line, but some of them really are ****ing crazy.

I know, I could always open up the Ring find very credable sources, good articles with very little bias for the most part, and great top 10 rankings with only the most accomplished being able to say they have the "ring" belt. This truly saddens me.

Well, as right now we won't have an objective source listing a decent top 10 to refer to. When looking at past fighters' records, we have been able to say "so-and-so beat X number of Ring-ranked fighters". Now that option is gone to assess present fighters.

    No argument there.

Yet, it wasnt and shouldnt have been the end. The sport needs reformed and IMO too many were content to pig**** the average chick instead of searching for a better option:good

Now that she's lost some appeal? Maybe there's more incentive to seek out newer and better things. Well, I can dream at least, right??

My comment wasnt designed to give the answer, merely to point out a better one is needed.

A correction based on you're post, INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION. I use the NFL example because it is among, if not the most well managed professional sports. Simply a model, not the ANSWER.

I have no prejudice to the American or whatever routine that many on this site partake in(mostly non americans):nono IMO being in the ring supercedes all the bull**** of race, nationality, faith, etc. The sport has been full of great champions from all walks of life and I welcome the global perspective.

No doubt KG. I started a thread a few days ago asking everyone thier experience with getting thier issues. I ordered subscription in early June and still haven't gotten one! I took someones advice and called the number on the website and they told me the first issue i will get is November's!! Sons a bitches!! And now I find out that more of my money is headed straight for Oscar's pockets.:-( As I stated in my thread I live in West Virginia and looked EVERYWHERE to buy one and have never anywhere in my region found an outlet, hence the decision to subscribe online. I had better be friggin impressed with it when it finally comes, because for one I feel like a damn **** running for my mail box day after day only to be disappointed.

Lol, funny, one tries to be positive on here and some jaggoff takes what you say and spins the ****. I know about Rubert Murdoch i dont live under a rock you know, and guess what anytime hes asssociated with anything one knows to not use the info as a primary source unless its fact. I wont read the New York Post to get news, i would get it cause they sensationalize and its cheap, but i would listen to what Forbes, the Times, cnn, etc over anything that doesnt have the respectability.
Jesus dood, this will be a good thing, Oscar has plenty of experience taking things of the ground, maybe thisll be spark for the Ring, its exposure, and worldwide reach! Boxing Fans are damned if they do damned if they dont. Someone is trying to do something good here and just cause its OSCAR people hating like boxing is over now! Get over yyourself! GBP gonna own American boxing, people that cant see that are blind.

Brother, I could not have said it better - No way these threads should be deleted nor our lips should be sealed - The Ring Magazine already has started up a major turmoil in boxing that has not been a positive revolution in my view - "The Pound For Pound Ratings" which most of all have generated matches that don't go accordingly to box reasonability but just to collect dollars from pay per view customers and to make their careers as profitable, business wise and clownish as possible... Now, an independent press release is under a major promotional company? Goodbye neutrality and goodbye Ring Magazine, so long for now HBO crew...

I actually prefer Golden Snaggle Tooth, but they're taking over like the Corleone family. Richard is Michael.

Sure I criticize, but that doesn't mean I always criticize, no matter what, as you claimed earlier.
