Chris Cork gives his usual breakdown of the main event, this time Nogueira vs. Davis. The full thing is here: http://www.yourmma.tv/events/details.asp/id/131/ufc-fight-night-24-nogueira-vs-davis.htm Agree? Disagree?
Wrestling is the neutraliser as it will control where the fight goes. Davis team thinks Nogs stand up is overrated. If he chooses to purely stand with Nog then he could be in trouble. The first phase of MMA seemed to be unstoppable jits, a new phase seems to be wrestlers who know how to defend against jits. It is time for jits to develop a new aggressive submission game. Guys like Dave Camarillo who practice judo and wrestling and allow these arts to compliment their submission work. After Lil Nogs last fight, I think he realised the strength of wrestling and its place in MMA scoring. He needs to be looking to take guys down, sub from the top, sweep if he is from the bottom etc His approach must be aggressive. Jits was once for little women to defend themselves but someone like Nog shouldn't need to backdown or feel the need to use it defensively.
