He's ****ed now, with Calzaghe now massively exposed to the USA boxing Audience and HBO rightfully hugging his nutsack, which will lead to whatever amount of insane money Hopkins calls for being put on the table, what now will his excuses be? :hi:

He won't. But will calzaghe need to come to america now. Joe is now
a legitamate superstar. He doesn't need hopkins to seal his legacy, but
if he wants to be a 2 division champ he'll have to.

He wont - Hopkins will fight him, but get his 5th loss in the process.

Hopkins is not the 160->200 US boxer who would be the more dangerous for Calzaghe. Hopkins throws 10 punches / round now. How could he steal rounds ? The judges would be impressed by Calzaghe's workrate and Hopkins would lose a large UD. He has not even the puncher's chance. Dawson would be a better opponent imo.

He has just whipped the livest opponent he could face, he's looking for public recognition and payback now for all the years he was ignored/ducked.

It's actually too bad that this fight might happen. Money aside, it's really a no-win situation for Calzaghe. If he beats Bernard, he will get absolutely no credit for the win as everyone will says Hopkins is an old man.

This fight needs to happen. I really don't think Hopkins will refuse. The amount of skill these two guys will bring to the table, what a high class fight that will be.

That seems to be the usual story i'm afraid...or too light a puncher, or too limited, or too slow, or too..........................

Not completely true. People have to be honest. Warren (and Calzaghe himself) are also responsible for that. Be sure that if a cash cow like Calzaghe had really demanded unification fights he would have unified for ages... A guy like Mormeck said "bye bye" to Acaries when he understood the plan was just to keep the WBA belt with average defenses. He signed with another promoter and he demanded unification fights in the contract. Calzaghe is a cash cow and a far bigger star than a guy like Mormeck, he could have demanded everything.

Hopkins won't fight him, so Calzaghe will take Woods and Dawson as his final two fights likely, still worried about his age though.

He's sealed himself as one of the greats.

But he will be the undisputed ring magazine lightheavy weight champion
of the world. An undefeated 2 division undisputed champ?

He'll be a 1st ballot hall of famer. He can go down as one of the best in his next fight. What do you mean nothing to gain.

Hopkins beat old man Tarver and is suddenly right up the p4p lists. Joe would definitely get some credit for beating Hopkins. Even if he doesn't get all the credit he would like, I'm thinking the money aspect would still make it worthwhile - Joe has never seemed to care too much about his legacy.
