OK, so what a year for British boxing! I'm not going to start to list all the successes because there are too many and I'll end up forgetting some but I reckon it's been one of the best 12 months ever in the history of boxing in the UK. So IF Ricky Hatton somehow manages to defy the odds and beat Mayweather, surely it will be the best ever year in the history of British boxing. I don't know that much about yesteryear and what happened when but cannot imagine we've had another 12 month like this.
if Hatton beats Mayweather it will be the biggest achievment in British Boxing history, no doubt. It 100% won't happen though!
Turpin over SRR was bigger, surely? Hattons an undefeated 2 weight world champion, make it sound a little bit like Hatton doesnt have a prayer.
Dont believe all the BS surrounding PBF. He could be one of the greats, but he is definatly beatable.
Interesting article by John Rawling on this good year for British boxing. Mentions the increased investment in the ABA (apparently the English ABA now receives around £3m a year compared with only £42,000 until 18 months ago), increased participation in boxing and has an interview with Brendan Ingle. http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2007/11/13/world_titles_come_home_as_brit.html
