No, the biggest mistake was not retireing immediately after. He woulda have been immortalized had he done that. Of course, he'd be unfairly expeced by many to fight all the other HW's.
Unfounded BS. Roy returned a positive A sample in a fight where the challenger also returned a positive A Sample. To suggest that RJJ was a regular steroid user when there is no evidence to support that claim is idiotic. There are so many reasons someone can return a positive test it aint funny. The guy had decent strength and amazing speed....so how the hell can you say he wasn't powerful? As for his chin, the shots that took him out would have stopped a bull. Lewis lacked speed and agility which would have forced him to rely solely on his jab and straight right. It would have been interesting although any suggestion Lewis destroys Jones is subjective at best.
Stepping into the ring with John Ruiz. The Quiet Man ruined his career just like he finished Holyfield.
I can't stand that he gave big mouth cry baby tarver a rematch in the first place. He didn't need to do that at all.
Going to CW would have been a big mistake for Roy. Many of the top CW's hit like heavies or close enough to it to put Roy out with one shot, yet are twice as quick as the average HW contender. I see guys like the Cruiserweight JC Gomez, or even today's David Haye as Cruisers that would have KOed Jones had he met them at the weight (Haye of course wasn't ready back then, but Gomez was). Fighting Ruiz on the other hand was in no way a mistake, from a tactical point of view. Jawny was a slug compared to Roy and the difference in speed was astounding. Roy had his way with Ruiz and did what he wanted to do in that ring.
