The biggest problem with British boxing?

So why is that a bad thing?

 

British fighters lack defense. Majority of British fighters wear their heart on their sleeve and use application/aggression to get the job done, instead of technically picking the opponent apart and using defence to create offence.

We have produced defensive fighters, but they are few a far between imo.

I love watching Ian Napa because he is one of the few good defensive fighters we have, he might not be world class due to a lack of power, but he is excellent to watch, his performance over [url]Martin Power[/url] was one of the finest performances ive seen in a British ring from a technical stand point, he used defense to create offence, made him pay, it was just a great performance.

Soft matchmaking is killing the sport imo. It also cons the casual fans into thinking they're watching the next big thing when in reality british fighters usually end up being shown to be distinctly average at the highest level

Hometown decisions for prospects **** me right off therefore better refereeing is required or less corrupt refs.

 

I think "corrupt" is a strong word, some may be biased and/ or inept but I don't think any are on the take.

 

Some of the stoppages ive seen in British rings would not out of place in an amateur show.

Anyone think Choi Tseveenpurev would of gotten the benefit of the doubt if he had been down as many times as Derry Mathews ?

Would Haye have been stopped, if he was in Lolenga Mock's shoes ?


Does Calzaghe get stopped, if he is in Manfredo's position ? Not saying he would of won the fight, but..........

Does Joe get stopped in Byron Mitchell's position either ?

Most home fighters never get beat unless they are KOed. Any fights that go to scorecards i assume the prospect wins.

Corrupt might not be the word but a ref can only be inept or biased so many times by accident

 

Home fighters/ propects win most of the points decisions because they have been purposefully matched against people they should be able to beat fairly convincingly..
