Self-explanatory. Wherever you stand on old v. new, most people here agree that the techniques and tactics used in the sport changed dramatically--possibly multiple times--over the course of the 20th century. In your opinion, what are some of the most important changes, when did they occur, and why?

I'd rather focus on non-heavyweight boxing here, but I know that's probably hopeless.

The stance changed, old timers like Robinson and Louis always fought with their heads off center line whereas modern fighters fight more square on, I found that out when I watched this Wilson Kayden vid, before this I thought old timers were just standing funny, kind of lie a tic they had picked up watching other fighters, kind of like the Irish Bare knuckle fighting stance you see in movies only the lead hand of that stance was held out longer than is often displayed because back when it was created you could grab so the lead was held out like that so you could grab opponents lead hands and pull them on to punches.

I think a lot of the guard changes are due to larger gloves, I think boxing has changed way way less than people make out.
