The biggest test for Amir Khan this Saturday is not Paulie it's the big lights in Madison square garden, where you're surrounded by the top media and critics. Lets not also forgot the thousand of **** talking New York fans who will boo the **** out of you in an attempting to take away any confidence you thought you had coming into the fight. I have watched a lot of Cotto fights up there and I have seen the purtorican fans beat up Brits and do all types of ****. I think a lot of us have Khan winning in a big way after all he has freddie Roach on his corner as well as the speed and the power. To keep it real when I watch Khan work out it's the same impact I get when watching Floyd and Manny workout, he just looks that good in the gym. But it's Mayweather who said it the best " We all hit the pads a like, the bag a like, but we all don't perform under those lights a like" .I know I'm off somewhere in the quote but you get the point. Just by being there as a fan, the Mecca of boxing arenas sucks you in and intimidates the hell out of you, can a young untested soft chin Khan pull of something the Prince did? I don't know, but I'm not putting my money on this fight I will just wait to see how great Khan really is. If Khan pulls this off with class, the only thing that can stop him from greatness would be that china chin of his. This fight should be called Khan vs Malignaggi & NY's Big lights ( i'm gonna repost the thread under this name so don't bother reading again.) PS. If you never been to the garden I can see you might not get it.
On reflection, yeh maybe he should have fought on a undercard for his first fight, its quite something to headline at MSG on HBO against a native New Yorker, especially one who talks like Paulie. But May 15th is upon Khan, let's see if he's got the bottle.
I don't think it's at the main MSG itself. Maybe the smaller, less intimadating wing of MSG. Where most of the average scaled boxing matches are usually held. I heard it's only 5000 seating capacity.
this fight is in the wamu theatre....not the actual arena...which is quite different....the theatre does have alot of bright lights though....but its very cozy...great place to see a fight....not a bad seat in the house...i may head down there for this
Hey guys I just found out it's not the Garden in that case END THREAD LMAO, he shouldn't be under that much pressure, but damn what does that say about boxing 2 exciting double headers and they can't fill up the garden damn boxing we should be able to do better than that.
round...ive been to the garden for shane/cotto...and cotto/jennings....its dope in there....i just saw fights in the theatre for the first time for the juanma/gamboa doubleheader....and its pretty cool in there....i think this card is perfect for the theatre...and the place will be full....and there will be lots of energy in there....
Outside hardcore boxing fans Khan is unknown in the U.S, no one knows who he is. Check out a few New Yorkers asked who Amir Khan is [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K36Re5T4vzM[/ame]
