The knockdown was from their 2nd fight in 1951 round 9......... The first fight had no knockdowns. contrary to the popular myth, charles-walcott I was not boring...it was a very tactical chess match, two master boxers in there. I believe the fight was closer than the scorecards indicated, walcott buckled charles knees nearly floored him in the 14th. But charles defintley won the fight, walcott coudlnt stop charles 1-2.
Think I would put up Eder Jofre's win over Vicente Saldivar ,when 10 years after he first retired,Eder won the Feather weight crown at 37.
My vote is Forman over Moorer. Not only was he an underdog before the fight, but probably a bigger underdog up to the point of the KO as he was losing bigtime.
Simmie Black. From boxrec encyclopedia : Simmie Black was an active club fighter during the 1970s, 80s, and 90s--in the American Midwest and Southern United States. He lost the vast majority of his fights, many of them via knockout. He often used aliases to shield his identity from boxing commissions and fans. Because of this, he may have had more bouts than are attributed to him on the linked career record. He allegedly took "pay days," after impersonating stand-out amateur boxers from other states who were reportedly making their professional debuts. This soiled some of those boxers' amateur careers, if they were not able to prove that they had not in fact fought professionally. Alleged eye-witnesses also claim Black impersonated deceased boxers.
That's a good point. If you could have lay a bet at the end of the 9th round I'm guessing the odd against a Foreman win would be astronomical.
