Braddock-Baer wasn't really, but at the time people thought Braddock would be KILLED!
So in that fashion it really was the greatest upset.

Tyson was seen as invincible at the time. Douglas was a 42-1 underdog. I would say by far this was the biggest upset in boxing history.

biggest upset? other than this month in boxing history?

hmm, I gotta say Jake Lamotta W10 Sugar Ray Robinson at Olympia Stadium in Detroit. Ray was 40-0 at the time, having already convincingly beaten Lamotta once before. It was billed as a huge upset at the time, and I think it's an even greater upset considering what Ray went on to do throughout the remainder of his career, and the fact that Lamotta never beat him again...and the fact that we're talking about the GREAT Sugar Ray Robinson's first ever defeat

Tyson-Douglas has a case for most historically significant upset in sports history.

I know diehards of everything from college basketball to rugby to women's rowing are going to get their panties in a bunch citing this and that, but it's true - at large, Tokyo is the standard to which all other upsets are held. Only the horse race of 1912 which actually coined it is more closely linked with the term, and certainly more people are aware of the heavyweight title bout, even if they aren't necessarily boxing fans.

tyson vs. douglas. simply based on the odds alone. that outcome should have never happened. seems almost like a destiny-type thing (can't say it's destiny cause i don't really believe in it).

Tyson v Douglas, though if you were a real boxing fan you would have seen the **** was in the wind for Tyson once Rooney left the picture: he stopped moving his head and bobbing and weaving.
Ali v Liston. (huge, huge upset at the time)
    Pac v DLH
Calzaghe v Lacy (seems like a no-brainer now, but at the time Lacy was heavily, heavily favored to put Calzaghe to sleep, along with the rest of the SMW division).
