This was a WWT fighter vs a big MWT tho & no-one knew then that SRR was gonna be the best ever, he hadnt peaked then, he wasnt even WWT champion when this happened.

Tyson-Douglas takes the cake in this particular thread IMO.

umm, sure buddy:lol: I disagree wholeheartedly.

Ray had beaten Fritzie Zivic and Sammy Angott among others prior to his second bout with lamotta, and Ray had already convincingly beaten lamotta, so the weight thing is irrelevant. Ray controlled him early and was eventually knocked out of the ring on route to a decision loss. The picture of ray hanging out of the ring was on the front page of newspapers all over the U.S. he hadn't peaked, but even pre prime sugar ray was considered one of the greatest fighters in all of boxing, and undoubtedly the most spectacular, during the time period...all of these things considered, I think its the greatest upset ever

It just has 2 be Tyson/Douglas IMO every upset really just don't get near this monster, i remember pissing the missis off big time by yelping & screaming I DON'T BELIEVE IT, I DON'T ****IN BELIEVE IT:shock:

Unlike in the past this fight was watched by everyone around the globe all at the same time. There was 4 other blokes in our road watching it as well & one of them banged the door as he'd seen the light on as he just had 2 talk about it,none ov us could take it in what we'd just witnessed, talk about SHOCK:shock::smoke

Tyson Douglas was a startling upset.

But IMO, Clay's upset of Liston was as much or more of an upset.

And Ali's upset of Big George in Zaire was a shocker too.

I dont understand why the smiley :)lol:) was put in place, everything I said was true but to each their own... if you think a WWT Ray Robinson losing to a big MWT Jake Lamotta is a bigger upset than Douglas KOing Tyson then fair enough, maybe your right, Im not 82 afterall, I wasnt there to feel the atmosphere in 1943 when SRR lost.

    Tyson vs Douglas
    Ali vs Foreman/Liston I
    SRR vs Turpin
    Holyfield vs Tyson I
    Louis vs Schmeling I
    Braddock vs Baer
    Leonard vs Hagler
    Hearns vs Barkley I

Take your pick, although I agree with most and that would be Tyson vs Douglas.

I agree with you on Hopkins, but the Barrera vs Hamed result was not THAT big of an upset.

Did I say all-time - I was just saying it was an upset. Look at my previous posts.
