    In recent times....Hopkins' schooling Pavlik was pretty shocking. And brilliant.

    I agree Tyson/Douglas. I remember being a kid and watching this at a big fight party at our house. People kept calling in total shock. I've seen other upsets since then, but cannot recall any having the same impact as that one. Our phone was literally ringing off the hook.

    Tyson was undisputed champ fighting a n7 contender. That is more of an upset than Joe Louis losing to former HW champ Max Schmeling. Joe Louis was just a contender at the time.

    Agree totally, I woudln't be suprised if the betting odds in that fight were not in favor of Schmeling.

    It wasn't just shock in one particular country either. It was a worldwide shock! Douglas was at one stage a massive 45-1 underdog! No-one, aprt from himself & his trainer, gave James any chance at all!

    Douglas fought the fight of his life & even if he had stayed in condition & remained dedicated, I do not believe he would have bettered that performance!

    Beating Tyson, at that time, was like winning the lottery for Douglas, who was nowhere near stardom before the bout. For his defense against Holyfield, Douglas received a purse of $24,000,000, an incredible amount!

    I'm a Tyson fan & always will be, but Douglas fought his heart out! I do think if Mike was properly prepared he would have taken care of Douglas comprehensively, but he underestmiated him & it cost him dearly!

    From a mental standpoint, Douglas could not have reach the same level of committment & dedication again to which he was at for the bout against Tyson!

    In my view, its not the greatest/biggest upset in boxing history, its the biggest, most unrpredicted upset in sport's history!
