I thought this move was great, and just wanted to know has anyone used this effectively in a fight or during sparring?

I use it quite often. I saw that video a while ago and started incorporating it. It works great when you use it only a few times a round, I use it too much now lol so Im becoming a little predictable but its a great move. My coach hates it though, he used to fight pro as a heavyweight and tells me to only move forward when jabbing or to jab after or before you move.

This is a pretty basic technique. But It's really really useful against guys who cover up when you jump in at them. Basically, you need to get the guy to expect a combination so that he sees the jab coming and covers up. Then it's best to throw a body hook off your jab, or a hard straight right.

Unfortunately, most guys don't fall for it much and if they're smart enough to counter your jab with an overhand right---you walk right onto the counter. This technique seems good in theory, but it rarely works as intended. But when it does work, you can really do some damage.

I did just that tonight in sparring, worked like a charm. I hook off the jab a lot but never really gave it much thought.

you did it against a southpaw?

i dont normally like to give away tricks... pissing people off as a southpaw is too much fun!

but seeing we are not likely to fight :tong ...

i cross or jab to the opponents jab hand continually to have them catch punches (taking their jab hand out of play).. and then hook to the opening created by taking that hand out of play.
