The bottomless pit Cotto now finds himself

I hope you are right about Cotto because he's a gentleman and a professional in the dirtiest, most vicious sport on earth and he deserves a chance to redeem himself. I just wonder if he can ever beat Margo, much less two times in a row. This simply may be a mountain he can't climb.

Hearns was not made lesser with losses to SRL or MMH, but he does fall behind those two when ranking fighters of his generation. I thought Cotto had generational fighter talent but Margorito was fantastic tonight and may be better on any other night as well.

 

You can add George Foreman and Mike Tyson to that list as well. Losing to Ali spun Foreman out into an almost suicidal complex (yes, I know he had a successful second act, both at the grill and in the ring) and the beating Tyson took at the hands of Douglas forever cracked the facade of the baddest man on planet Earth.
