Locche constantly dipped below his opponents waist which left no legal targets, that`s the secret to his defense and Floyd Mayweather`s plus great athleticism, completely overrated fighter, as was Maciano who did the same bull constantly. This content is protected
To be fair before people start calling you a fool. As an admirer of Nico I noticed this a lot to and it's a fair mark to call. But it's not the secret and he did have a very, very good defence.
That's what you are supposed to do. You are supposed to put yourself in spots where the other guy can't hit you.
It is illegal in amateur boxing and nothing is easy when a trained professional is throwing punches at you.
IMO, "Highlight Videos" don't show anything except the agenda of the guy who makes them. As you said, nothing is "easy" against a trained and conditioned opponent. A fighter might have great head movement...but he won't be able to move his body the same. There is always a weakness and a place to attack.
It`s illegal in pro boxing but refs are rubbish. Boxers cannot duck so low that their head is below their opponent's waist or belt line. Boxing Fouls List | Improper Fighting in Professional Bouts
Mark, while your facts may not be wrong, I believe your interpretation is incorrect. Locche and many others named in this thread all have one thing in column. They did what referees allowed them to do, therefore, what they did was legal, whether it is in the rule book or not. Boxers, and many professional athletes, will push the boundaries of the rules and it is up to the officials to push back. If they don't then why should an athlete stop doing it. I'm not saying it should be that way. I am a big stickler for the rules. However, it is not a boxer's job to stop himself from finding a winning edge, it's the ref's job. Locche was basically untouchable because he did what was allowed by the referees. That is exactly what he is supposed to do.
