Some of the older boxing heads and Canadians on this forum might remember the Hilton brothers of Montreal. Matthew, Davey, and Alex were all great talents whose outlaw lifestyle derailed their careers and made headlines in Canada in the 1980s. Matthew, in particular, was an exciting 154 pounder who briefly held the IBF title in 1987. Davey, probably the most talented of the bunch, finally captured a world title in 2000 at 168 pounds. Here's an interesting documentary on their rise and fall [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5x43TFmXaJc"] This content is protected [/ame] Here's a bit of a background on them This content is protected
matthew was one of the hardest punchers in the middle classes if not the hardest puncher. what a waste of talent.
at least Matthew won a major title and defended it a few times. Davey was probably the most talented of the bunch. Angelo Dundee was quoted in the 80s as saying that he thought Davey was the best welterweight in the world at that time. The guy basically just walked away from boxing in 1985 on the brink of a major title shot, and never really got back on track again due to outside the ring problems.
