The boxrec rankings are as biased as any other rankings?

Just the other week Joe Calzaghe topped their P4P list, in at number one.

A week later Mayweather is back at number one, without so much as setting foot in the ring. Yes, they changed their scoring system to uncorrect their rankings.

And yes there are currently 4 American fighters in their top 10! The American Media Conspiracy is as strong as ever it seems.

On another note their list of editors, in two of the most populous countries in the world:

    China
    Jia Chuntian
    Zhenyu Li

    Russian Federation
    Sergey Sinyakin
    Sergey Turunov
    Boris Konkin

Yes 5 in total...completely unproportional compared to the number of American editors:

    USA
    Brian Benton
    Ronald Bishop
    Jeff Burns
    Bob Caico
    Dan Cuoco
    Luckett Davis
    Barry Deskins
    Mark Hartman
    Henry Hascup
    Brett Henry
    Grey Johnson
    Charles Johnston
    David Krizan
    Casey Lauer
    Melanie Ley
    David Lentzer
    Juan Ortecho
    Bert Ottaviano
    Nathan Palmer
    Andrew Partlow
    Art Peyton
    Joseph Richmond
    Mike Ringquist
    Joshua Rosenfeld
    Damien St.Pierre
    Matt Tegen
    Jake Wegner
    Kurt Wolfheimer

I may (it is highly probable I did infact) actually have imagined Joe Calzaghe was the P4P number one on boxrec, could someone please comfirm this?

Yes I saw it too, they had Calzaghe as P4P no.1.

There is not much point in computerised rankings if you are going to tweak them purely to reflect the views of individual Americans.

Boxrec's rankings are the worst. I mean, p4p lists are subjective but to have Cotto at 16, hello?

They are useless. They fiddle with their formulas to make sure the No. 1 guy is who they want. It isn't worth anyone's time. Computerized rankings can't work.

Boxing knowledge is what causes the fiddling. They need someone completely clueless to assemble a calculation.

Have a look at the WBA, WBO, WBC or IBF top 15 and you'll realise that boxrec is a hell of a lot better than any of those.

    Calzaghe definitely was their #1.

I thought the reason for the change was perhaps Hatton's win at the weekend: Hatton winning thus improving his ranking points, and in turn boosting the value of Floyd's win over Hatton?

Hatton winning made Floyd's points go up.

You will find if Kessler wins against Sartison, that Calzaghe points will go up.

In this case, I think Boxrec is quite good in a way, it credits you based on how your recent opposition perform.

You beat me to it. but I will also add that Boxrec points should never be the same week to week. Because if a fighter that you fought wins or lose your points change. If any of the fighters that the guys you fought were to fight then your points would change.

What if you beat a fighter to a pulp and he is shot after this, and goes on a severe losing streak. This will cause you to go down in points due to your detructive performance. Not very fair in this case !
