well I will say this, Floyd could not lie on the ropes against Duran. I am not sure the Floyd of today could beat Duran. He leans back on the ropes too much.. Beating Duran takes moving. But Floyd is now 35, 3 years older than Duran was when Duran lost to Hearns.

Those guys all have two things in common. The first is that they cornered Floyd at some point during the fight. The second is that they all lost anyway. I expect Duran to fit that bill.

More importantly than that i would say is there not being a great fighter among them. Not even an excellent one.

Or a very good one apart from Castillo(who of course gave him the toughest fight, remarkable that).Semi retired DLH was as ordinary as can be by the time they fought.

When were Duran's feet tested at 147, ANSWER, second time against Leonard and he failed - first time Leonard went toe to toe with him, second time Leonard gave him lateral movement and he couldn't keep up

Duran probably doesn't have the legs for the job - see Benitez 18months post Leonard 1 to see how he does against a Floyd type opponent

So what if Duran comes inside at times? Floyd is maybe the most underrated inside fighter around

Damn Windows phone! Obviously cloud meant Floyd thankfullyyou both picked up on that.

First, pp I agree with how under rated Floyd is on the inside

Secondly floyd at 147 never struck me as having significantly fast feet. I mean against baldomir there was a semblance of the fight we're discussing but Duran was never as slow as bald was. Floyd let Hatton come to him and he beat him inside, could he beat Duran inside? I doubt it. he hasn't had fast feet since 130. Its the thing he lost as he moved through the weights.

I think the Mike Tyson who beat Berbick,Bonecrusher,Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tucker and Tyrell Biggs and Holmes to beats Douglas of Tokyo. yes. no problem.

You expect Floyd to out-maneuver and out-do Duran on the inside? You think he's more skilled on the inside? Based on what exactly?

Duran is one of the most skilled fighters on the inside to ever operate inside a ring. His displays against Buchanan, Palomino, Leonard, Barkley, Cuevas, all indicate he is the superior infighter.

Once he ties up that right hand at close range, it doesn't look good for Floyd in the pocket.

Tyson was at his best in 1987. As Lennox said after he fought Mike, Mike was at his best at 19. Some fighters age like wine. Meaning, the best Ray Leonard beats the best Roberto Duran. Roberto already knew Ray's style. If that was the real Ray Leonard why couldn't he duplicate it again? And if you look at the second fight, Ray started to hit Duran to the head and body in the 7th and 8th rounds.

Mike in 1990 was not the same Mike as in 1987. Not in my mind. Mike moved his head more and worked his way inside where he worked the body and hit the head. Mike's style was great if he fought a lot. He was brilliant in that situation. By 1990 he was getting inactive since this was his only 3rd fight since he fought Spinks in June of 1988, and he was not with Rooney anymore, he had those guys whose names slip me now. It has been a long time.

Now those list of fighters proves how Ray did not fight his fight. It is like a question on those tests when we are kids which show shapes and they ask which shape does not go with the other ones. When you have a list of those 5 fighters, which fighter does not belong here, Leonard stands out. Because Ray was a mover and a boxer and fast. He didn't use it the night he fought Roberto. When he did he outboxed him and Roberto didn't want any part of it.

MAG, Ray fought like he always did that night. Ray rarely ever moved like he did in New Orleans, and when he did, it was against a badly prepared Duran, and even then, the fight was competitive, and regardless, Floyd has never boxed like that. You need to stop your obsession with exaggerating Duran's stylistic weaknesses.
