Having just watched that kid on the weekend go down bravely to Nathan Clev just made me think how crazy the Brendan Ingle style is.

I mean the guy was clearly hurt - and he backflipped back up onto his feet, etc. All the Brendan Ingle fighters seem to be a bag of tricks.

He also seemed to be bluffing he werent hurt when he clearly was.

Do you agree with Brendan Ingles training methods - or is there just too much nonense about his fighters with all their silly tricks? :think

I don't think Ingle teached them tricks, but that sort of style works best for flashy showmen generally. You have to be naturally talented for it to work well and MacIntosh just ain't good enough I think.

    I agree

You cant train every fighter the same because all human beings and fighters are built differently and with different strength and weaknesses. Obviously someone like Herol Graham and Johnny Nelson and Naseem Hamed coudl pull it off. But I have seen many a Brendan Ingle fighter smashed to pieces with their leaky defence - Ryan Rhodes was one - remeber he was being hyped as a future star and World Champion and then he fought for the WBO World title and Jason Matthews smashed him to pieces inside 2 rounds. And Rhodes defence that night was terrible. Thats my problem with the Ingle style of fighting, it could ruin some fighters who havent got the natural ability to pull off such a daring and unorthdox style.

It works if u talent for it. You can't knock his success. His record from making champions out of guys he's had since amateurs must be unheard of; Naz, Ryan Rhodes, Jonny Nelson, John Thaxton, Junior Witter, Kell Brook (who IMO could be better than naz). No matter what you say that record speaks for itself.

From what age did Brendan Ingle have the orginal stylist - Herol Graham?

To steal part of a Simpsons phrase I think the style both 'blows' and 'sucks'

The almost total neglect of a jab, puerile workrate, emphasis on posing and loading up with wild hayemakers is not something I would teach any fighter coming up. To top it off, switch hitting that only serves to confuse the fighter and makes him an easier target for his opponent isn't too wise either

I will admit that when it comes off( Witter-Harris, etc) it can lok excellent but a arule I almost despise it

Ingles record up to a point is beyong rapproach but how many champions has he produced as opposed to titilists

Can you shed any light on the footwork patterns on the floor?

Yep. I've heard about it, but know little of the method employed and it's purpose. All I have gathered is that it is a footwork excercise...I've heard that Brendan used to make you master that before you were even allowed to step foot in the ring....but that may just be the rumour mill at work.

    Yeah

But what happens if you get a young stocky fighter like a Tyson build and make up - its not gonna suit him dancing around and doing little tricks - in that sense the Ingle mentality is limited and close minded. Its a strange gym for sure.

yeah you have to master the lines first ....man i spent hrs going up and down....then you have the circles gives you balances..gets you to trow punches at different angles....mainly body sparring...found you can get a bit complacent knowing no head shots...great gym though.

Herol Graham claims he brought that style to the gym and that Ingle copied it and used it from then on. Graham said that he got it from his old gym in Nottingham. I think Mr Fearon did a interview with Graham and he said it in that interview.
