"Controversy lingered over “a plaster-like’ substance that fell from beneath gauze in the wrapping of Antonio Margarito’s hands and forced him to re-tape them before his loss Saturday night to Sugar Shane Mosley at Staples Center.


Mosley trainer Nazim Richardson, who was in Margarito’s dressing room to witness the taping, asked California State Athletic Commission officials to pull away gauze from one hand when he said the wraps appeared to be too large.

“A piece of plaster fell out,’’ Richardson said.

Richardson then said he asked the Commission to pull away gauze from the other hand.

“Another piece fell out,’’ Richardson said."
