Kronks most talented individual, Bernard "superbad" Mays was so good all the other trainers & boxers came to watch him. Am record of something like 200-1, drew comparisons with Joe Louis & Ray Robinson. Mays started smoking & drinking, left Kronk & became an alcoholic :-(
A young Tommy Hearns nearly gave up boxing because he was so sick of getting pasted in sparring by Mays everyday Emmanuel Steward "He was a combination of Louis & Robinson; he could box & punch & didnt waste motion. He could slip a punch by half an inch on either side then nail you. Whenever he fought the 1st 2 or 3 rows would be filled with managers & trainers from all over America, some would bring their fighters to watch this kid perform"
