The Brit forums opinion on Taylor-Chavez I

I knew it - but wasnt sure wether I was just imagining it - it was so long ago seeing that fight.

The ref's jobs to protect the fighters best interests from the start of the night till the end of the fight. Problem is Steele was already known as a Don King referee and making the decision he made gives reason to believe he did it as part of helping King's fighter win.

If i was refereeing i wouldn't like to take the risk of letting Taylor take one more hard shot when he was exhausted and hurt. Sad Sad night Taylor could of been something special and his career was never the same after that fight and he's sadly now badly punchy and was fighting way past his best days.

taylor was up at like 3 or 4.

he was ok to continue.

he did respond to steele after being distracted and steele looked away at the point he responded.

 

:good Against McGirt and Chavez he was bloody awesome. He was what, 22 (?), when he faced McGirt (who was a solid champion) and absolutely outclassed him. Same against Chavez, I think I had JCC winning no more than 2 rounds. Real shame how Taylor ended up :-(

 

Let's not forget Lou Duva in all this, wasn't he up on the apron saying something to Steele when he was counting for Taylor? And as for saying he told Taylor to box when it was clearly audible that he said Taylor needed to fight and win the 12th. atsch

 

Duva has a lot to answer to by the way. Sending Meldrick out to win the round when he didn't need to at all. He read the fight badly wrong and it cost Meldrick. Maybe i'm being harsh on him but i just feel it was bad call.

I think so from what I have seen of him post JCC he wasnt as good admittadly it is only JCC II and Norris.

Also the fight was alot closer than most think, depsite beign Taylors best performance

also I still aint won dan round as a JCC fan

 

A just stoppage. Taylor as in a bad way. Chavez was being outpunched two or three to one throughout the fight but his punches were the more damaging.

You only have to witness the slide of Taylor, and the state of him now (well as of Legendary Nights a few years ago he was unintelligable) to see what that fight did to Taylors career.

Not helped by a futher Chavez beating a few years later, mercifully shorter, beautiful left hook from Chavez to get the ball rolling.

but he was still ok to continue.

the fact he beat the count as quickly as he did proves that. :roll:
