Steeles stoppage of Nigel Benn against Eubank was spot on though.

IIRC he gave Terry Norris an half decent argument for a few rounds at 154 when he was pretty much finished.

The Norris fight the first 2 rounds were close then Norris turned it on and stopped him.

Ah, takes me back - I was a big Chavez fan and had to phone a mate who had teletext to check the result the next morning as no TV, text or web.

Taylor fought his heart out and was winning but got a beating while doing so. At the time it seemed to me that Chavez got lucky - but the fact that there were only 2 seconds left is irrelevant and Steele did the right thing.

How do you reckon a prime Chavez V a prime Hatton would have gone at Light Welterweight ?

Ian Darke was in the middle of it commentating for SKY and it got so serious he said he seriously feared for his life. Until a unlikely savior arrived in the big dreadlocked heavyweight Shannon Briggs who helped guide Darke to safety.

The lasting image I have of that ruck is one of Bowes bodyguards smashing a mobile phone into Golotas head :rofl:nut

Chavez TKO, a good pressure fighter vs a brilliant pressure fighter.

    Agreed:good.

Regardless of time or round, it is also the ref's responsibility, no matter what the magnitude of the fight is, to keep both fighters safe. Taylor was ****ed and I completely understand why it was stopped.

One is a poor version of the other. Andy Holligan who fought Chavez was (broadly speaking) a poor mans Hatton so I'd guess Ricky would last longer. Maybe 7th? 8th? 9th?

With one of them being outclassed and hospitalised. Please don't ask me which one!
