    Good post Hoya.

Although I was afraid opening it, it would be a discussion of low melanin count and gnarly teeth.

    :thumbsup

Thank you for being Objective! Its hard when some of your Media Outlets are so bias... I am sure a lot of Brits just eat that crap up... I mean the McCory guy on Sky and Hatton himself soon, are now trying to blame the loss on Floyd Sr...

Amir Khan will be an example of this as well... he will be so carefully managed now its going to be pathetic .... I would be greatly surprised to see him put in the ring anytime soon with any sort of REAL Challenger.

Your being a bit harsh on khan there. He is finally stepping up (mainly because he has a PPV deal and the public will not be conned with terrible opponents) against kotelnik who is a real challenger and after that there is a strong possibility he will fight Ortiz, who again is a real challenger (more so than kotelnik for me).

Calzaghe was elite above all other Brits, we were lucky he was special & showed true A+ stuff in his tough spots. He was the best of our lifetime.

Brits are generally biased toward their own, as are Americans.

    That's nature for you.

    Great post.

I think in Britain we just get carried away and over excited on big occasions. I mean for Hatton to take 35000 to Vegas and we took something like 350,000 to Germany for the Portugal game in the world cup is just brilliant.

let me put it this way for u. Hatton showed why he is not a elite fighter he does not have the ring smarts, he cannot adjust in a fight to what is going on. He cannot think clearly enough in a fight to know what to change. Calzaghe was knocked down in 2 fights and he adjusted and never fell in that situation again. Hatton he went back to the corner and came out the same. He canot think clearly enough to know what he is doing wrong and he needs to change. for me that showed me what i aleady knew about hatton. thats why i praise calzaghe more and better british fighter then hatton will ever be. Its a shame joe never faught a p2p king

This British disease that brought tens of thousands of fans across the atlantic for one fighter alone? Some disease. God forbid a fighter's popularity is based on his personality and not his skill.

Yeah, all those real tough spots against top comp.

Joe Calzaghe is at least one level below Lennox Lewis, if not more. To be honest, sometimes I wonder if Calzaghe really deserves to be ranked above Chris Eubank as a Brit. To me, Eubank showed more in his fights with Watson and Benn than Joe ever did. In terms of ability only, Eubank was a better mw than Calzaghe was a super mw. Watson and Benn are better than anyone Joe fought at smw except possibly Kessler - possibly.

    But in Blighty, zero=hero!

Not trying to offend but anyone who thought Hatton was or could be elite needs their head examining.

You can see with your own two eyes that he was never gonna be elite. You did not need it clarified by his losses to Mayweather and Pac.

Calzaghe has the ability to hang on the coat tails of elite status. Lewis was right amongst the best elite HW of all time because he had the skill set and size.
