I didnt like the fact that the first few pages were specifically aimed at validating the excuses for avoiding certain fighters, he was certainly protesting too much
I'll vote for Calzaghe. I dislike the twat not because he was **** but because he was the opposite but chose not to prove it.
We need more votes for the watson twins!!! Think of their stupid ****in faces standing behind broner while he combs his hair!!!!
hmmmm, Do you really think Calzaghe (honestly) had any real reason to avoid anyone? other than it being the wrong time.
Calzaghe's auto bio is one of the most appalling pieces of literature I have ever read! There was some interesting stuff in there though, after reading the book I am convinced that he was nowhere near as confident in his ability as he would have you believe. He was terrified of losing his "0" and he continually goes on about what it means to be unbeaten comparing himself to Rocky Marciano. Had he have realised that going unbeaten means nothing if you haven't taken on the best fighters of your era instead, he could be one of the p4p ATG's of the modern day. He had no reason to avoid anyone as he was at least 50/50 with almost anyone with the possible exception of late 90's RJJ, but I don't think he knew that at the time.
I'll vote for Calzaghe too although I loved that song his dad and uncle did that song surpasses anything Joe did in his whole career.
Nathan Cleverly for fighting bums, not being a proper champion, and having a really arrogant twitter profile description alluding him to being a "great man" and boasting about the stellar achievement of having a 2:2 undergraduate degree. Tyson Fury for talking a lot of crap about Price constantly, scarily, threateningly, but not actually bothering to do the important part: fight him. Also, his general ungentlemanly aggressive attitude pisses me off.
Only because people keep putting these stupid list together based on achievements & stats... what about all the other factors, like Eras & meeting the best in them, aswell as length of time at the Top in those Great Eras. those few facts alone place ALL Top fighters from those Eras above all else! JC can think what he wants, so can BHop, RJJ, Eubank or anyone of them, but the truth is they shouldn't be listed untill all the Top Fighters from such Eras are marked first.
I havent read it all yet and yes it's not greatly written but what I have read I'd have to disagree the book highlights his 'hate' of losing and his drive to be a winner/champion. Perhaps I'll change my mind once Ive read it all.
You should read the Ricky Hatton autobiography. It's so bad it's hilarious. The ghost writer having an extremely bland writing style is bad enough, but it's actually riddled with spelling mistakes and blatant inaccuracies.
I can't stand the guy, but I can't in good conscience give him a vote. Sorry. Even though he fully deserves it.
