The British Heavy weights in 2009

Tyson Fury has the name, but im ultra cautious of gettingexcited about any amatuer talent nowadays. Ive had my fingers burnt too many times.

 

I think most will be pinning their hopes on Fury. He has some stand out features compared to the rest. And I don't mean the tyres around his waistline.

The others smack of a domestic type roundabout, and an unentertaining one at that. Chisora-Sexton is about the only interesting one to me since Sexton seems to have improved.

Other than that stick a fork in Williams, he's done after losing to that Polish cat. He's looked done for a while really, he's taking too many shots and his chin ain't holding up like it did. All he seems to do is throw wild power shots. McDermott is another glass jawed joke. He has some skill but no dedication and no chin and no heart. Can't say I'm too interested in Skelton, but he's made the most out of his limited talent and is performing well. Maybe a defence and he may even somehow sneak another title shot.

 

I think the SN ones will certainly be involved in a domestic merry go round....

It's a shame the EBU belt guarantees top rankings with the WBC rather than the WBA, because I genuinely feel Skelton could beat Valuev.

Williams is done - perhaps with a decent set of trainers he could make a couple of defences but turning up 40lbs overweight all the time doesn't help. Waste of talent.

Tyson Fury is probably the best the bunch on first impressions - though he needs to lose 20-30lbs and fight a heavyweight before you can actually judge him. He does seem to have decent skills, a jab, power etc so fingers crossed.

 

Williams is likely to fight John McD and should he lose then he simply has to call it a day. In my opinion win or lose he should call it a day.

I'm looking for Chisora to make some noise in 09.

 

Chisora's a fat oaf in the Sam Peter mould. I doubt he'll get beyond British level. Sexton also is British level at best.

Skelton will make a few defences of his Euro belt and will probably get another crack at a world title.

Tyson Fury looks like he could do well but we stil haven't seen enough of him, He needs to get into good shape and fight opponents with different styles and not just be fed tomato cans.

 

I agree about Fury.

I would like to see him stick to six rounds though, I cannot stand four round fights, at all.

 

4 rounders are ****. They make accumulation punchers look like featherfists on their record, especially if they fight obdurate competition. It encourages fighting tinpots at short notice.

As for Fury...it was only a debut. Can't understand the criticism he got for that.

chisora looks good actually but dont think he has the commitment to be fit enouigh to go 12 rounds ans hes not a big enough puncher to be KO guys at euro level and above.
