He was a hypejob, the US fans love to have at least one at a time, Lacy, Pavlik, Dawson, Cotto, Williams......the only thing for certain with all these fighters is when (if they havent already) they lose, the hype train goes missing and never returns.

 

Your anti-American bias is well-known and documented Arran, but calling Cotto, and to a lesser extent Dawson, Williams and Pavlik hypejobs is a bit much. All 4 have performed quite capably at the highest levels.

 

This is true, but considering they were alll seen (some still are) as the second coming of Christ you have to look at it from an outside point of view. They were all hyped way beyond thier capabilites, lets take Lacy, he was bookies favourite, chosen by every US 'expert' to beat Calzaghe and look what happend, where did all his fans go after that? Cant find one for love nor money. Lets take a look at Hatton, a little over-hyped? possibly, but when he lost his next fight was infront of 55,000, Lacys fight after his loss to Calzaghe was infront of 5! 2 Commentators, the arena Janitor and 2 taxi drivers waiting to take the boxers home.

 

Yeah, but I was talking about Cotto, Dawson, Pavlik and Williams, and specifically NOT about Lacy.

 

Where have all the Williams fans gone? That hype-train was massive! Where they at now, why were you not including Lacy? He was favourite to beat Calzaghe.
