Nobody was George Foreman who was very friendly with Joe outside the ring.

I guess I feel you and many give Wilder way to much credit for beating nobodies. Everyone can see how bad the competition is and No offense to Ortiz but I don’t think he cracks the top 10 in many decades. One of the slowest men I’ve ever seen compete for a belt. Being big isn’t a skill in boxing although many seem to think it is. It’s a draw for sure but not a precursor to victory. I hope Usyk dominates just to prove that point soon. Although wilder only weighing 210-220 for most his fights kind of proves the points as he is not a super hw he’s just tall.

How about the 50s, Marciano's decade? Do you think Ortiz would be out of his depth back then, and unable to secure a Top-10 ranking?

I don’t think much of Ortiz but if DonnC could get ranked so could Ortiz but I don’t see Ortiz ever being a threat. I’d take a lot of fighters of the 50s to dance circles around him.

    Ortiz would beat
    Cokkell
    Dunlap
    Lastarza
    Baker
    Walls
    Neuhaus
    Layne
    Jackson
    Harrison
    Slade
    Norkus
    Sys
    Gardner
    Williams
    Pastrano
    Holman
    Summerlin
    Satterfield
    Johnson Young Jack
That's nineteen men who were ranked contenders in Marciano's reign.

I’d def pick Layne and Lastarza over him and several others are live dogs. There is literally nothing special about Ortiz other then his girth. Lastarza runs circles around him all night. Ortiz is to slow to compete. I’m surprised he ever made it to where he is. faster guys would embarrass him on that list

Nothing special about him at all, and even less about that collection of average at best contenders!

Not the strongest era. I agree. Later 50s were better.

Well I wouldn't, and we can never prove it one way or another, so that is an end to the matter!

It's a terrible HW era. The leftovers from last era are all pushing 40 and are still top fighters ... somehow.
