It looks like The Bronx Bull is in the can and waiting for a release date. It's a prequel/sequel of sorts to Raging Bull, based on Jake's two books and made with his participation.

With a budget of $7MM, I'm guessing they couldn't meet DeNiro's salary demands. Instead the film stars movie tough guy journeymen William Forsythe, Joe Mantegna, Paul Sorvino and a number of other familiar faces.

If it's Scorcese then great, if not....I do worry.

Had the pleasure to be invited to a gathering when they were raising funds for the production and promotion of the film. Had a chance to talk with Lamotta and his handlers very nice. As for the film, they are trying to create a quality B film as opposed to the artistic masterpiece that was Scorsece's vision. Take the film at face value and don't compare it to the raging bull and you might enjoy it.

That sounds right, Long Count. I just happened to have finished reading both Raging Bull and Raging Bull II, and really enjoyed them. By coincidence, this film is coming out now. So I'm looking forward to seeing how the lesser known parts of the story get treated in the new film.

So much of scorseces film missed much of the books. In an interview Martin said he was ill during the making of it and decided to change the direction of the movie to match how he felt at that time. It's more of an artistic piece than a portrayal of the books. Great movie though it was there was no mention of lot of areas that in the book were key points of lamotta's life.

Looks ok to me ,the lead actor is a good one .If the film is 25% of Scorcese's version it will be worth watching.imo

It looks like it might be pretty good.
It probably covers a lot of different ground to Raging Bull film, (apart from it being artistically a different kind of film too.)
