I think he pretty much just had the losing horse in there against Mayweather. He's had a few winning horses too in Mosley/Hopkins too as far as ability and experience... I think he's a bit overrated in the fact he hasn't really had an unpolished diamond and turned him into something special, he's been training proven operators.
Angelo Dundee, Manny Steward, Buddy McGirt and Brother Nazim could've trained Mosley for this fight and he would've still got beat.
what a stupid thread...why do people have to talk so much ****? Richardson propelled Hopkins to a huge win over Pavlik with the perfect gameplan...as well as catching Margarito cheating then having his fighter completely dismantle him...ever stop to think that MAYBE he had a lesser fighter in Mosley when fighting Mayweather....just because his fighter lost doesnt mean he's a bad trainer...he can't fight for mosley...no matter whose trainer Mosley was, he would have lost that fight...ur an idiot.
Shall I make a thread every time Freddie Roach is in a losing corner? My post count would double in no time!
Brother Naseem said all the right things between rounds. Shane just could not execute. I'd honestly like to know what the game plan was after 2 rounds. I also think he knew all along where the fight was going after seeing Shane do absolutely NOTHING from round 2 on. His fighters look really good against stationary targets like Pavlik and Margarito.
His fighter lost to a better fighter that could adapt. Nazim nailed the first 2 rounds and had a strategy(step on tail and fire to body) that Shane could not implement for the rest of the fight. How bout giving Floyd some of the credit. He is going to adjust in about 2 rounds which means that a fighter needs about 4 plans and be versatile enough to implement them to beat him.
I can't stand how fickle ass boxing fans **** on a fighter or even a trainer when they lose. Floyd was much too good that night and Mosley failed to follow whatever gameplan Richardson laid out(I can guarantee his gameplan was similar to what I laid out: work aggressively behind the jab to move Floyd to the ropes and work on the inside from the body up...with a few versatile alternate plans for when Floyd attacks or sets traps) Shane just could not get it done and him hurting Floyd in the secons round was perhaps the worst thing he could have done. It made him knockout happy(as in looking for a one-shot KO) that caused him to head hunt and neglect combinations. Richardson is a damn good trainer with a good boxing mind. But you can't win them all....either as a fighter or trainer. Stop kicking men when they're down.
Its up to the fighter to execute the gameplan. Nazim gave all the right advice in the corner, but Mosley looked lost as if he was not listening. I especially liked it when he mad Shane repeat what he was saying. Name another trainer who would do that to make sure his fighter was listening. Nazim is a good trainer, just look at the fact he caught MArgarito cheating. Cotto's trainers did not notice, Cintron's trainers did not notice. He caught Trinidad wrapping his hands illegaly, no one else did. Its shanes fault he lost the fight not Nazim. Shanes age, layoff, over training, not using the jab (as his trainer told him to)and trouble with boxers is what cost him the fight. Your post is illogical and adds up to "Any fighter who losees = a shitty trainer
