I personally have respect for both K bros. Vitali more so because of his style and heart. what opponent of either Klitschko brother, can you say, with a good argument, would represent a world class opponent in any era other than this one? i'd prefer you be objective, but it doesn't matter to me. i'll honestly bypass what I consider pointless
didn't specify either if how he was during when they fought or during that opponents prime. But that's how vague you have to get to find a world class opponent.
you know this thread is immaterial at the end of the day. a lot of discussion goes on about jones, hopkins, calzaghe - but the one thing they have in common with each other (and the klitschkos) is that they are undoubtedly world class fighters. nobody dominates a division as long as these guys have unless they have some serious ability, so i don't see the point of anyone trying to discredit them just because nobody talented enough came along in 'x' years to dethrone them.
I think vitali would be a good fighter in any era. A well conditioned 6'8" guy with balls can't be taken lightly.
6.8 Billion people in the world.... Put any person in the ring today with K bros and they will get destroyed. :bbb
Byrd, Ibragimov and Chagaev stand out. The majority of their opponents have been good, solid contenders, but not elite level. The Klitschkos are very consistent though, and beat good fighters in such a dominant fashion that they are clearly a lot better than their best wins would suggest.
I think the bottom line is the Klitschko brothers will be remembered, period. IMO I think WLAD will be held up there with Larry Holmes by the time he retries. Like I said, by the time he retires. He still has at least 3 years left in him. Vitali will be along the line of Lennox lewis but never as high because Lennox despite the circumstances has the victory over him and Lewis was fortunate to have a healthy stable of heavyweights to build his resume on unlike today. Both Klits will be top 15 on the GOAT list after they retire .
