If there was only one single possible champion per division and there was a regulated way of ranking fighters (ranked fighters would need to consistently keep fighting higher ranked fighters), then there wouldn't be any bull**** about :

1-Who's truly the best in the division
2-Not being able to make certain interesting fights happen
    3-Protected fighters
4-Money, since the most money would only go to the real champ and the true contenders making it to a championship fight !

I'm sick and tired of the dumbass politics boxing makes boxing fans go through...Anyone else agree on this ?

And who would 'regulate' this ranking system?

Money wouldn't work...you cannot help a certain fighter being very popular in his home town/country, even if he isn't the best - he'd make more money than the Champ because more people would come to see him; if the Champ comes from a small, poor country, he may be the best, but he's not making much money. Interesting fights also only happed when there's money in it...so...again...wouldn't work. But the champ would be the champ and fighters would be protected, that's true.:good

There's no objective way of ranking fighters and styles make fights and since you cannot fight more than 3-4 times a year, there can be no ranking that isn't to a great extent subjective...so...even if there was one body doing the regulating...their ranking couldn't be perfect.

Even though the sanctioning bodies are a pain in the ass - the fans are the ones that demand that a champion unify his division to prove their championship status.

Some fighters are very popular on their own turf but cross over appeal is created...Now who has the power to create whom will become popular ? The networks and media ! In America it's HBO, SHOWTIME , The RING MAG, etc...

If the main networks would only make the best fight the best, there wouldn't be in questions as to who is more popular....

For instance, as much as Manny Pacquiao is a god in the Philippines, he'd only stay popular there if networks didn't jump in on him !!

Every popular fighter is made popular ! It's just that some have naturally more appeal than others...

All major associations would need to unite and it's a far fetched desire unfortunately, nevertheless it's the only thing that could bring some true credibility to the sport !

yeah it would be nice if there was a union in boxing.. but it would never happen ... to many promoters would lose out on money
    IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN

There is too much money to be made out there. BUT I will agree with 2. I dont believe in the Alphabet Organizations anymore. A Title is a Title, whether WBO, WBA or IBA. The man makes the belt, not the other way around. I love the IBO because of their ratings system and I like that the RING belt carries no sanctioning fees or mandatories.

Money is out there once a fighter is made popular...who makes him popular ? It's quite evident everything happens for a reason.

With only on acknowledged belt and the networks consistently backing that up...the money would always be there, but it would be me much more for the best to fight the best !!
