Its really a pick em fight Imo. I would tend to go with Calzaghe by close UD.

    Calzaghe wins both.

Toney who fought Jones totally underestimated Jones, didnt train properly and had to lose 50lbs in 8 weeks or something stupid like that. Toney would come in underestimating Joe and would get schooled the same.

Hopkins that fought Jones didnt have enough ring experience, he wasnt the savvy fighter that he's become over the years and didnt have his tricks of the trade then to deal with Calzaghe physical attributes.

    HOWEVER

I'd possibly pick a prime Bernard over Joe, not too sure about Toney, maybe.

Calzaghe beats both on pts.... 8-4 vs Hopkins & 9-3 vs Toney.

The Calzaghe that fought Kessler barely beat Hopkins at 42yrs old. A young, hungry fresh out of the can Hopkins would put a beating on him.

Both Toney and Hopkins puts Calzaghe on his back.

Toney was hardly at his best against Jones, I'd say Calzaghe would be far too much for him. Prime for prime would be hard to pick.

Hopkins would be interesting. Physically better than now but still green.
Calzaghe would probably know too much and old man him to a close decision. Prime Hopkins would beat Joe though.

Well if an Old Hopkins put him on his back with a short right...a young one would do it and then finish the job.

Calzaghe won a controversial decision against a 43 year old Hopkins! BHop and Toney would win these fights easily.

The Hopkins that fought Jones would probably drop a decision to 2007 Calzaghe. Bernard was a different style of fighter then - a good fighter but not the great one he became. The 1997-2004 version of Hopkins would definitely beat the 2007 Calzaghe IMO, no doubt.

The Toney of the night that he fought Jones would probably drop a decision to 2007 Calzaghe purely because on that particular night he performed poorly and was apparently weight-weakened. However, peak Toney at 168 beats 2007 Calzaghe IMO. The Toney who beat DeWitt and Barkley 1992-3 up til around when he beat Littles in 1994, that guy beats any version of Calzaghe IMO.

Calzaghe was far more consistant than toney.I'd say Calzaghe would bat them both by decesion.Hopkins in 2008 is certainly better than he was in 1993 make no mistake about that.

no disrespect but this post made me laugh because i mentioned last week that people will be sizing up calzaghe against fighters who achieved more reputation and notoriety on the world stage in the future - the same way they would about guys like eubank who similarly also never made these fantasy fights a reality when it mattered.

if he don't want to take a shot at glory by making his name in the US then don't flatter him by giving him rep points now.
