Because it never normally matters what I or anyone else says. You guys always seem to be cast iron in your views.

For the record I don't think Ward could handel the pace at which Joe fights.

Calzaghe's footwork is superb (not counting strictly come dancing) and he wouldn't let Ward escape.

Also I think Joe could take wards biggest punches.

    Mid to late tko.

Take it easy... Its jumping the gun to say Ward beats a HOFer and ATG at 168 like JC.

Lets see how he does going forward in this SS touney 1st at least.

This is just ESB fans overlooking Ward as they typically do. Very few can recognize talent on it's way up. Most make a lot of noise about somebody who is already proven. But what the hell kind of fun is that....pointing out the obvious? Anyway, how many rounds did Kessler win against Calzaghe? How many rounds did Kessler win against Ward? And yeah I know geniuses, Kessler was rusty against Ward right? Yeah, sure. I remember Kessler bragging about how he was in the greatest shape of his life and could NEVER handle another loss like his first. Thing is, his loss to Ward was much worse. At least he was competitve against Calzaghe.

    Are you for real?

Calzaghe all the way. But on a UD.

I doubt ward could keep up with his stamina and would wilt in the later rounds while joe was still fresh as a daisy.

I don't think they're overlooking him. Just saying one decent performance doesn't put you in the pound for pound rankings.

Styles make fights and Kessler may have been perfect for him. He's got to prove himself against several fighters (which he'll get the chance to in the super 6) and then we can see how good he is.

No doubt he has talent and it was a great performance, but that was his first world class fight. Lets see one or two more before we get too carried away. Unfortunately he has JT next. If he wins well everyone will just say JT was finished before their fight. Anything other than a spectacular victory and people are gonna question him. Early on JT could give him problems. The Dirrel fight could be interesting.

Calzaghe could not handle speed or power. Ward stops him inside 3. Cal does not have the chin or the power to make any impression on Ward who walks him down and embarasses him.

That Calzaghe was already a somewhat worn version reaching retirement age. But he always found a way to win, and he always adapted to the style of his opponent. Hopkins gave him major trouble the first four rounds, so that I already thought that Calzaghe gets mugged, and wins no round. Then he changes his approach and wins the other 8 rounds, forcing Bernard to fake a lowblow to get a breathing break. Same way with Kessler, Kessler looks like a winner for the first couple of rounds, then Calzaghe adapts, and solves the puzzle. I don't think that Calzaghe whose best asset was always speed, footwork, improvising and adaptability would not have found a way to negate the predictable jumping in head first one twos Kessler had no answer to. Calzaghe fought a hit and hold fight with a prime Jeff Lacy he usually doesn't fancy, as if he never did anything other. He has shown he can tie up young guns like Ward and slow them down with grappling, to land flurries and stop return fire with holding again. Kessler was just too slow and inactive to get Ward when the opening was there on the rope, Calzaghe would learn to use that opportunities.

Yes exactly, you are repeating my point. For me personally, it doesn't always take being proven to make a judgement call on a matchup between two guys. That is how I have been able to predict numerous underdogs over the years (there's a lot of money in that). These proposed dream matches are what makes it debatable. As far as who is proven, that can usually be determined by the facts. Calzaghe has easily achieved more. The question is, who would win out of those two fighters on those two nights.
