Calzaghe on workrate and his technique was nothing like as bad against Lacy and he actually had defensive reflexes and a jab.

Joe has admitted candidly that he purposely punched Hopkins in the groin because he knocked him down.

Calzaghe said: "What a crap actor. He looked like he'd been shot in the balls, not hit. When I hit him there in the second round, that was proper deliberate. He'd knocked me down in the first so I had to give him a dig, didn't I? But the 10th — that was a lie, that one."

To be fair to Joe I think the weight has affected him more then any decline in ability due to age. Quality of opponents also matter, it was just 6 months ago he was showboating in front of Kessler. If joe fought one of his frequent cans of soup again tomorrow he would once again look super human. (not talking about Kessler there by the way)

Moving up a weight I don't think has added anything to Joes game, certainly not power; the trade off for moving up is extra power for speed and stamina.

Hopkins TKO 11 Calzaghe leaves himself to open and Hopkins would make him pay everytime with hard brutal shots to the head and body.

I wonder if he was joking cause that low blow in the second round looked like a tap with the side of the glove to me.

One of those low blows was legit...The other..uh..who knows, I wasn't in the ring.:D

I personally wouldn't give a round to someone who was getting beat for 2:30 of the round then flurry the last 30. That's just me. I take a look at the whole round and see what matters. Punch out put doesn't matter to me. With Calz, throwing punches in bunches is his defense. Bhop slipped, rolled, dodged, blocked more punches than landed. I saw that with my own eyes. Those 'connects' that compubox counted were ridiculous. Bhop was out worked as far as punch out put, but I will take that straight right hand that wobbled Calz over the pitty pat Calz hit hop with. Look at hop post fight...Ugly as ever, but no swelling or damage from punches.:deal

I know what I saw, Hops clearly pulled his head down and the hit was pretty light with the side of the glove.

The second low blow was a horrible acting job by Hops, I dont see how anyone can defend that bush league crap.
