Both Canelo and Wilder were losing every round just looking for the one shot that they knew would end the fight. Both Kovalev and Ortiz crumbled from the first meaningfull punch landed. Both Kovalev and Ortiz at the end of their career. Both Canelo and Wilder about to make history. Both Kovalev and Ortiz read their lines and didn't miss a cue.
Canelo was definitely a predetermined result. Not so sure Ortiz would've wanted to take that shot even to make 3M. That being said, there were a few strange things: 1. It was the first real shot that landed on Ortiz and it didn't hit him on the chin, more on the side of the face. Although it definitely hit him hard enough, it looked like the sweat from Ortiz's head may have hit the back wall of the arena. 2. Why did Ortiz just stand there after using decent movement up to that point? It could have been the short jab that hid the right but it was a stupid place to be all of a sudden. 3. Ortiz looked as though he was stopping himself from landing awkwardly with his arms. Although his eyes did look cross-eyed in a way that would have been hard to fake. Overall, I don't think Ortiz took a dive while Kovalev definitely wasn't there to win.
Oh, please... Why can't you just gave the men the credit they deserve? I don't like Canelo at all. He is cheater, liar and hypocrite that often gets gifts from the judges when the fight goes to scorecards. But he is also an excellent boxer and his win over Kovalev (shot version, yes) was absolutely legit. You can't fake a KO like that. Just one questions for those who believe Kovalev took a dive: if the result and scenario of the fight was predetermined, why then Canelo's team wanted rehydration clause to be included in contract so much? As for Wilder, I like him but I admit his resume besides Fury and old Ortiz is beyond awful for a guy who holds the major title for 5 years. Beyond awful. His skills isn't good at all, his balance is bad, and he got shooled badly against rusty version of Tyson Fury... But the guy can hit like a f*cking truck and just one right hand from him can end the fight at any given moment. I don't understand why people are questioning his KO of Ortiz. Because he was losing every single round before knocking him out? Well, what about Foreman vs Moorer or Weaver vs Tate? Thing like this happen in boxing pretty often and that's one of the reasons we like this sport - because of its inpredictability,
