Floyd could've had a fight with any of those legends of the sport...He was at 130 from 1996-2002 (that's when barrera, morales, hamed were in their prime and all were within 5 lbs of 130)

There's no excuse for those fights not happening.

Even if Floyd did come back, he cant fight so many guys that he could have... Its already wasted

Mayweather left 130 at the end of 2001. Barrera had just began 126 at the time, against Hamed. Morales had just started 126 and was looking lousy. I'm sure Mayweather would've liked a Hamed fight (he specifically mentioned that he wanted Hamed), but not vice versa.

Mayweather fighting guys like Cotto, Margarito, or Tszyu would've been more impressive wins to me than beating those smaller guys. Barrera and Morales may have been bigger names, but those other guys were bigger challenges.

Exactly ... I never really considered the Barrera Hamed fights for Floyd... Man how great would it have been to see fights with Mosley, Tszyu, Cotto ... Those are huge events

I think you're analyzing this backwards.. Both of you.. The question is..of those Top 20 GOAT fighters (or 30 whatever pleases you) ..How many great fighters did they fight?..not good, very good but great fighters they faced (sometimes multiple times)

Now compare that to Floyd and how many GREAT fighters hes faced..then you will come up with a better answer

PBF just didnt pursue the right fights. He beat a lot of guys past their prime or coming off losses, and then he exited the sport right as the 147 division really heated up. At 130 and 135 he is a great fighter, his skill is undeniable, but he just DID NOT fight the best fighters. He always looked impressive, but its hard to say how he would do against many fighters simply because he fought only two elite fighters, Castillo and Corrales, and at only 1 weight class.

I agree my points have some holes in them no doubt and respect what your saying, take that into account its my personal opinion Floyd still aint in the Top 20...

Where do you rate Floyd on an All Time list?

I really feel one of the things that will hurt Floyd's standing in history the most is the timing of his exit... Right when the WW division got REAL good... If Flyd was to come back in 2-3 years i think it would hurt him again because it will look like he left when it got good and didnt return until 2-3 years later.... Floyd either has to come back now or not at all

Agreed he looked very impressive but its funny..youll never truly know unless you fight another great fighter..because you cannot be that much greater than another great as proven thru time..you will struggle and its more ones heart and will that wins...Hagler/Hearns..SRL/Hearns, Duran/SRL...Greater fighters than Floyd

Floyd is not more indestructible than Tito pre DLH.. TITO was the MAN!! remember that! What happened?..he faced his match in Oscar and actually lost that fight IMHO

I agree, he left right as a lot of really elite fighters came into the mix, competitive matchups that really would have tested him. And he still had at least 2 years left before he would be out of his prime, at least, likely more.

We'll never know unfortunately, not unless he comes back.

Vastly more important than who someone DIDN'T fight is who they DID fight.

If he comes back, that will play a bigger role in establishing his legacy.

    E.g.

If he came back now, there's Margarito, Pac, Cotto, Berto...

    And always more coming up.

No offence but that pretty ridiculous... The skills are undeniable? Whats that got to do with it... I agree Floyds skills are freakin second to none, that never EVER can be questioned...

Skills dont mean **** it what you do with em... There are alot of fighters on top of P4P lists with less natural skill and ability... Its what they did with whatever amount of skills they had that counted
